I just finished East of Eden. Loved it. If you're looking for lighter reading...Eat, Pray, Love is good and I liked The Glass Castle. The Goose Girl is also a fun, easy read.
The Book Thief is great. Since you're going to France (I think), I loved Five Quarters of the Orange by Joanne Harris. She's the author of Chocolat--another great novel set in France. Have a fabulous time and say hello to the missionaries!!

Hi - Have you ever lived in Morton, IL? I'm trying to find a Rachel Brubaker that used to live there.
Thanks
